PHILANTHROPIC EFFORTS
Literacy Through Unity Week
To support our philanthropy of children’s education and literacy, Delta Phi Omega holds an annual “Literacy Through Unity” week that includes a series of events to bring awareness and raise donations for the cause. In the past, Denton City-Wide Colony has organized book drives, hosted MGC Game Nights, volunteered with the local boys and girls club, and hosted profit shares. All donations collected from these events are dispersed to charitable foundations affiliated to our colony as well as to our national beneficiaries. Our Sisters nationwide work hard to implement Literacy Through Unity week at their respective chapters or colonies. Over the years, we have been able to raise more than $83,000 nationwide.
Be The Change:
Be the Change is a national day of service inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s quote “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” The sisters of Delta Phi Omega, along with other South Asian interest organizations across the nation, participate in this event by dedicating hours to local service activities. Be the Change has allowed South Asian interest organizations to collaborate their efforts and really make a difference in their communities.
